Liverpool Parent Infant Partnership

Liverpool Parent-Infant Partnership works with families with babies and toddlers from conception up to 2 years of age. We aim to help babies get the best possible start in life and to help families enjoy each others company from the start. LivPIP does this by offering therapy and support to families and training and consultation to professionals who work in Liverpool with under two-year-olds. The service is offered in families homes and children’s centres – the venue listed is the admin base.

What do you offer?

Consultation: To discuss concerns about a parents relationship with their bump or infant.

Training: In infant mental health and about relationships in families with babies (up to 2 years)

Therapy: LivPIP works closely with families, focusing wholly on the parent baby relationship, offering a variety of individual and group approaches to support the development of sensitive bond from parent to baby.

Mellow Bumps – 6 x two hour antenatal group either for mums or dads that helps expectant parents to relax, connect with their baby in utero and think about baby’s development before and after birth. For more information please click here.
Watch, wait, wonder – LivPIP offers this approach on a group basis in eight week blocks. The group is open to mums and dads and is sometimes aimed at babies (0-1 year) and sometimes at toddlers (1-2 years). The group helps parents focus on what their child is communicating and is interested in.
Parent-Infant Psychotherapy – like all of the work in LivPIP this approach is with parents and babies (conception to two years of age). Parent-infant psychotherapy provides a time and space for parents to reflect on what they bring with them to the job of being a parent, noticing what the child brings and considering how these things fit together. It is offered with individual families in their homes and children’s centres.
Video interaction work – we very rarely get the chance to see ourselves being a parent. Watching video in a supportive relationship which highlights what is going well can be powerfully therapeutic.
Family therapy/systemic psychotherapy – Babies, children and people live in families, and they all have an effect on each other. Systemic psychotherapy explores the interaction between family members, allowing communication to be clarified, beliefs to be shared and new ways of doing things to emerge.
Mellow Babies – 14 x five hours therapeutic group for either mums or dads and their children (under 2 years old). The group uses a combination of video, group therapy, practice and shares some behaviour management strategies – all with a free lunch!! More information here.
