Young Carers Workforce Development Sessions
As part of the city’s commitment of continual improvement for young carers and their families, and in order for the Council to fulfill its legislative obligations, the Council re-commissioned services for young carers in 2014-15. This was through pooled-budget arrangements with Liverpool NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and new contracts commenced 1 July 2015 for a period of four years.
Barnardo’s Action with Young Carers service is part of the CAMHS offer in the city. The young carers assessment process sits within the Early Help Framework (EHAT) which all agencies within the city are signed up to. This ensures children and young people impacted by parental ill health, disability and / or substance misuse can be identified early and preventative support put into place.
To ensure young carers and their families are provided with an effective response from both adult and children’s services, and practitioners understand their roles and responsibilities, half day multi-agency ‘Young Carer Assessment WFD Sessions’ have been developed.
There are two specific sessions; Managers/Practitioners are invited to attend the one most appropriate:
- Young Carers Assessment Awareness Raising Sessions – aimed at individuals who have attended either Pre-EHAT or EHAT sessions.
- Pre-EHAT and Young Carers Sessions – aimed at practitioners who work primarily with adults and have not completed any Pre-EHAT Sessions, these sessions are for those completing Pre-EHAT only.
Information on each session, including available dates, can be found in the respective documents – click the relevant links above to download.
