This course is for professionals who want to learn more about the impact of racial trauma on children and young people’s mental health.

About this course

Delivered by The MYA RAISE Team, this course is for professionals who want to learn more about the impact of racial trauma on children and young people’s mental health. We are inviting you to attend and create a reflective safe space to raise the awareness and understanding of Racial Trauma through conversations and honest, reflective activities. On the course we will guide you on how to do this via the following modules:

Module One:  Creating safety for young people in the context of Racism, where racial trauma can be acknowledged, voiced and visible. Reflecting on language and terminology.

Module Two: Language can be considered as personal and ambiguous.

Module Three: Racism- what do we mean? What can we see in our young people? What are we not seeing and failing to understand. Reflecting on the importance of relational and systematic reflection.

Module Four: Trauma and its effects on an individual whilst taking a deeper dive into the outcome of Oppression. – What is it? Recognising the social graces model.

Module Five: Self reflection considers an open and genuine perspective when looking at our own frame of reference through the graces model.

Module Six: Resilience is underpinned whilst considering support to young people and the steps taken on the gang plank pathway.
