Who is the course for:

This ACEs session is for anyone over 18 who is interested in knowing more about ACEs ( Adverse Childhood Experiences). The training explores the life span approach, so we are keen to see anyone working with babies, families and adults on the course. Also, places will be prioritised for those working beyond the children and young persons workforce. The training is primarily aimed at; GPs and Allied health professionals. Also, schools Nurses and the physical health sector.

About the course:

The session will introduce; Firstly, what are ACEs and why they do they matter; the impact ACEs can have. The session will also introduce delegates to the city wide Growing Stronger framework. The Growing Stronger ACEs framework: 5 ways we can adapt our practice and interactions with others to buffer the impact of ACEs. Finally, you will receive post session information detailing what is covered in the session.

Learning Outcomes:

Understand what ACEs are; Why they matter so much; the importance of thinking about the bigger picture when working with adults, children and families. The importance of self awareness and self reflection, using empathy and compassion alongside a strength based approach.
