NOW Festival 2018

Would your young people like the opportunity to:

  • Perform at a professional venue?
  • Attend two free workshops with arts industry professionals?
  • Create a performance/short film that is well-informed and will impact their peers?

From 29th January 2018 –  2nd February 2018, we will be hosting our third ‘Now Young people’s performing Arts Festival’ at the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool City Centre. Last year’s festival was hugely successful and we were blown away by the standard of the pieces presented by all of the groups. Following the festival we have turned seven of the pieces into professional short films, some young people have received arts awards, and we have taken seven pieces on tour around 17 schools.

The ‘Now Festival’, hosted by Merseyside Youth Association in Partnership with Liverpool CAMHS, Liverpool Learning Partnership and Arts Council England, aims to mobilise schools/youth groups (ages 9-19) to produce a 10-15 minute long drama/dance/music or filmed performance around the 2018 theme: ‘My Education, My Mental Health’. As part of the creative process we will be providing interactive workshops around the subject of mental health, key issues within education, workshops from industry professionals, and we will also provide at least two support visits to your school/youth group. The festival has been designed to fulfill the requirements for GCSE, BTEC and A-Level devised pieces and will also allow participants to achieve an arts award.

Places will be available on a first come first serve basis and bookings will be taken from 30th June on the Now Festival Website: http://nowfestliv.co.uk/

To launch the event and provide you with all the necessary information we will be holding an information evening at Merseyside Youth Association on Thursday 21st September from 16:30-18:00 (light refreshments provided).
