Liverpool Mental Health Festival

Liverpool’s Mental Health Festival 2017 took  place 1st – 14th October, incorporating World Mental Health Day.

The festival features music, dance, comedy, drama, visual arts, poetry / spoken word, film, information, advice, training courses, workshops, fire, drumming and more.

Delivered by the @MYARAISETeam, this Bitesize course explores the specific mental health challenges faced by parents and carers, the barriers to seeking help, and how professionals can offer the right support.

Who’s it for?
Anyone working with children and young people — as well as parents, carers, and those supporting families.

You’ll learn to:
✅ Spot the signs of mental distress
✅ Understand how it impacts children and young people
✅ Approach conversations with empathy and confidence
✅ Overcome barriers to accessing support
✅ Know where to signpost for help

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are stressful Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are stressful or traumatic experiences that can greatly impact children and young people throughout their lives.

Adversity in childhood can lead to harmful levels of stress that affect healthy brain development. This can result in long-term effects on learning, behaviour, and health.

Merseyside Youth Association’s @myaraiseteam delivers training as part of the Liverpool ACE Growing Stronger programme. 

ACE-Aware virtual sessions
These 45-minute online sessions are for anyone over 18 interested in knowing more about ACEs.
We will cover:
☑️What are ACEs.
☑️The impact ACEs can have.
☑️The ACEs framework: 5 ways we can adapt our practice and interactions with others to buffer the impact of ACEs.

ACE Skilled Training (face-to-face, half-day)
This session is for adults who work with anyone who may have experienced ACEs.
The session will introduce:
✅What are ACEs.
✅The impact ACEs can have.
✅The ACEs framework: Five ways we can adapt our practice and interactions with others to buffer the impact of ACEs.
It will also provide structured reflection to help you build a practical action plan with actionable steps you can take as a leader to address the impact of ACEs.

ACE Leadership (full-day face-to-face)
This training is for managers and leaders within organisations. It considers ACEs and our response from a systems perspective. You will learn how the elements of the response framework can be utilised to support staff and adopt policies, procedures, and systems to make our organisations more ACE-aware and responsive.
