Understanding Mental Health Support for Children & Understanding Mental Health Support for Children & Young People in Liverpool

In Liverpool, mental health support for children and young people (0–25) is delivered through a collaborative partnership — bringing together the NHS and third sector organisations to offer help at every level of need, from early prevention to specialist care.

This bitesize session gives an insight into how that system works — helping professionals, parents, and carers understand:
✅ Who provides support across the city
✅ How to ask for help and make referrals
✅ Ways to support children and young people while waiting for professional input

📘 You’ll also learn about the ‘While You’re Waiting’ guide, packed with tools, resources, and strategies to support wellbeing during assessment waits.

This course will help you feel confident navigating local mental health services and supporting the children and young people you work with.

Why is self-compassion important, and what is it? Why is self-compassion important, and what is it?

Self-compassion promotes mental and emotional well-being, building resilience and a growth mindset. It helps reduce anxiety and depression by encouraging self-kindness and acceptance, even in the face of adversity. Practicing self-compassion can also lead to healthier relationships and increased motivation for self-improvement.

When we treat ourselves with kindness and understanding after setbacks or mistakes, we're more likely to learn from them and persist in the face of adversity. This builds resilience and a stronger sense of self-efficacy. Self-compassion can be a powerful motivational force, helping children and young people to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

Delivered by the @myaraiseteam, this Bitesize course provides:
🧠 Insight into self-compassion and the underlying theories
💛Cultivating your own self-compassion
🫶 Strategies to help gain self-compassion and embed them into your own life
