An awareness session to EMDR

06/04/2022 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is one of the most significant and innovative recent developments for the treatment of conditions related to trauma and adverse life experiences. During processing with EMDR therapy, disturbing events, frozen in time, are processed to an adaptive resolution.

Supported by extensive research, EMDR is recommended for the treatment of PTSD in national and international guidelines including the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). Its effectiveness with many other psychological disorders has also been established.

In this introductory workshop, Dr Robin Logie will explain the theoretical basis for EMDR, summarise the EMDR protocol and describe how a typical session of EMDR takes place. He will describe the client groups for whom this therapy is effective and briefly review the current research evidence for the effectiveness of EMDR.

This session is relevant to anyone who wants to learn more about EMDR. This intervention is evidence-based and is a nice recognised intervention for trauma. There are 60 therapists who are being trained in Liverpool to provide trauma-informed responses.
