Who is the course for? This course is primarily for those working in the social care sector with children in care. The session supports understanding of the children in care pathway toolkit.
About the course: Delivered by the MYA RAISE Team, this bite-sized session will act as a reminder to professionals of the universal offer available to all children in care and provide updates on any new developments. Highlight the importance of being ACE responsive and introduce the city-wide framework for addressing the impact of ACEs. Clarify the use and benefits of the enhanced consultation offer. Time to reflect on and discuss out-of-area placements and sections 2, 3 and 117 of the Mental Health Act, then finally explore the Gateway, DSD and Escalation processes.
The learning outcomes:
- Understanding of the Mental Health Levels of Need – what happens at each level, signs & symptoms, risk factors, and what can help.
- Overview of local pathways of support for children in care and out-of-area placements.
- Understanding of the Dynamic Support Database (DSD) & Complex Issue Resolution Process.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act in relation to children and young people.
