Event overview

Alder Hey Fresh CAMHS will help you to take a fresh look at your understanding of obsessions and compulsions, and when children and young people receive a diagnosis of OCD. This half-day training will give you a framework for understanding the theoretical background of obsessions and compulsions, how they are maintained, the function they serve, and how to support children and young people who have obsessions and compulsions. This training provides an opportunity to critically reflect on your own professional practice through group exercises, case discussion and discussion with other delegates. We will explore together the evidence base for the interventions which are most effective, and discuss when to seek further professional support for a child or young person with obsessions and compulsions. The session will be interactive and will create a space to connect with other professionals. No prior knowledge of the area is expected.
