New ADHD offer in Liverpool
ADDvanced Solutions Community Network (ASCN) is delighted to share its new offer for Liverpool families whose child or young person has ADHD. They will work directly with families and deliver additional learning opportunities that complement their Liverpool offer, with a greater focus on ADHD.
Working in partnership with the Alder Hey Neurodevelopmental Pathway team ASCN support families at the earliest possible stage through their ND Learning Programme. Now, following diagnosis, they also offer both the ADHD Learning Programme and the Autism Learning Programme.
For Parents and Carers
The ADHD learning programme for parents and carers has been developed in partnership with neurodivergent young people and families with lived experience of supporting ADHD. They aim to answer the many questions that parents and carers can have when their child or young person has ADHD. Their learning programme aims to equip parents and carers with a deeper understanding of ADHD and its challenges, and to provide information and practical strategies to support them and promote positive outcomes.
The programme will cover:
- Recognising the different presentations of ADHD.
- Understanding the impact on everyday life.
- Sharing a diagnosis and communicating with your child or young person about their ADHD.
- Supporting mental health and wellbeing.
- Exploring medication, strategies, interventions and lifestyle choices.
- Managing everyday challenges of ADHD.
- Latest research, legislation and support services
The first opportunity to attend this programme is either face-to-face in Liverpool across three Mondays in March or online on Thursday afternoons beginning 26th February. Find out more here.
This learning programme, for Liverpool families, is designed for parents and carers whose child or young person has a diagnosis of ADHD. Subject to availability, places may be available to those whose child is under assessment for ADHD. If you are awaiting a neurodevelopmental assessment or referral or are just exploring the possibility of neurodiversity in your family, please join our Community Network Group or ND Learning Programme where we will support you to find the answers.
For Professionals
ASCN also introduce an offer for professionals, anyone working with children and young people, a funded CPD accredited workshop “Understanding and Supporting ADHD”. Developed from a blend of professional and lived experience and extensive academic research, with information in line with NICE guidelines.
It will enable participants to:
- Gain a clear understanding of ADHD
- Identify common challenges for children and young people with ADHD.
- Recognise the challenges that families may experience
- Explore practical ways to support children and young people with ADHD and their families.
This learning offer for Liverpool professionals builds on and complements their ND Awareness Raising Training, extending knowledge, understanding and confidence to better support the children and young people with ADHD they work with, and their families.
Please contact ASCN to register an interest in this training.
ASCN will be working with a limited number of identified primary schools around the city delivering their ND & Me programme to small groups of year 5 & year 6 pupils who have ADHD to equip them with a better understanding of themselves, explore their needs and their unique strength and challenges, and encourage them to build strategies to support their transition to high school.
